Taking a shot...hope it's a swish and not a brick

Well folks I have entered into another chapter of a life that's taken many turns over 46 years. I've been a gas pumper, football scout, political lobbyist, machinist, radio host and other job titles but the recent one has me as excited as being a camp counsel !! Forgot to mention Camp Pinewood

The fine people of RSN Sports have invited me to produce a sports column that they have named Mike on the Mic. A play on words that comes from my radio show which was named Talkin to the Mike, also a play on words. If you need more explanation send me a email !! Lol

Anyway, I look forward to bringing you a column that covers the entire sports gambit from high school football to olympic curling and my personal favorite the chicken wing eating contest. I unfortunately lost my amateur wing eating status two years ago but I do have it under appeal

I bring a working knowledge of most all sports wether it be as a participant or a informed fan that I hope we can have conversation about and even disagree to a degree as long as at the end of the day we can go back to the huddle and call another play. Football is my area of so called expertise and I'm excited about explaining how the midfielder hits his tee shot from the on deck circle. I know, I know, I don't like to show off with my integrate knowledge this early in the game so please excuse me. Over the years I have made many contacts that I hope to use to bring their stories to you for your entertainment. The kind of stuff that are not always found in the newspaper, for you see I'm not a professional writer. Until now my claim to fame is writing a descriptive paragraph about a piece of cheesecake that I scored a 96 out of 100, pretty good for this old boy.

So, as I take a shot at being a writer,I'd like to. Invite you along for some fun and hopefully you and I will both learn something along the way. If you have a idea for a story send me a note and I'll take it under advisement.

I look forward to hosting some fantasy leagues in football, NASCAR , and baseball. A weekly prognostication of High School , college and pro football games would be something we could do for bragging rights and the fun of competition.
